Farm Bill

On September 12, 2013, David Salmon, Agricultural Counselor, made a presentation on the U.S. Farm Bill during a conference at the international llivestock trade show SPACE in Rennes, Britanny, organized by the French cooperative group Coop de France Ouest.

On June 6, 2012, during his presentation at the World Meat Congress, Under Secretary Michael J Scuse insisted on the necessity for farmers of the world to be able to increase their productivity to feed 9 billion people by 2050.  Farmers must have access to the most recent developments of new technologies, especially these science estimates to be safe for consumer health and the environement.  He concluded that "cultural preferences of some consumers in developed countries should neither limit access to safe and affordable food for consumers of poorer countries, nor limit the possibility of their trading partners to export their food supplies."
