Farm Bill

La loi cadre agricole aux Etats-Unis, aussi connue sous le nom de Farm Bill expire cette année.  Elle avait été adoptée par le congrès et signé par le Président en mai 2002. Elle avait gardé la plupart des dispositions du FAIR Act de 1996 mais avait aussi renforcé le filet de sécurité pour les agriculteurs. Le Secrétaire à l'Agriculture Mike Johanns a présenté les propositions de l'administration en mars 2007. Les deux commissions de l'Agriculture à la Chambre des Représentants et au Sénat se sont ensuite mises au travail. Le nouveau farm bill devrait être voté à l'automne 2007.

The current USA Farm Bill expires in 2007. It had been adopted by the Congress and signed by the President in May 2002. It kept most of the features of the 1996 FAIR Act but strenghtened the safety net for the farmers. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns presented USDA farm bill proposals in March 2007. Both agriculture committee at the Senate and the House have started to work on the next farm bill. It is expected that Congress will vote for it in the Fall of 2007.
